The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting visitors to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. During this ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering spectacular vistas of the valley below.

At the Tram’s Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet and 30 degrees cooler than the desert floor—dine in two restaurants, enjoy viewpoints, hike over 50 miles of trails, watch two documentary films or visit the natural history museum. Overnight camping available with advance reservation.

In the winter (snow conditions permitting), enjoy snowshoeing or cross-county skiing in an Alpine wonderland.

Meeting and banquet space is available for private events of up to 275 people.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert is a unique zoo and botanical garden that specializes in the deserts of the world with a mission of desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation.

Mountain lions, giraffes, leopards, warthogs, bighorn sheep and Peninsular pronghorn are just a few of the more than 450 incredible animals found in their natural setting that take you from Africa to North America. Feed a giraffe, watch the cheetahs run, admire the zebras, mimic a meerkat, interact with goats, explore nature and much more.

The immersive botanical gardens The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens include geographic replicas of areas as diverse as Baja California’s Viscaino Desert and the exotic deserts of Madagascar. Stop by the interactive Discovery Center, visit one of the largest G-scale model train displays, enjoy a Wildlife Wonders animal presentation, hike our nature trails, and have lunch in one of our cafes.

Tahquitz Canyon is one of the most beautiful and culturally sensitive areas of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation. Tahquitz Canyon is home to a spectacular seasonal 60-foot waterfall, rock art, ancient irrigation systems, native wildlife, and plants. Located at the entrance to the canyon, the Tahquitz Canyon Visitor Center offers educational and cultural exhibits. The Center offers a display of artifacts, an observation deck, and a theater room for viewing The Legend of Tahquitz video. 

 Smoke Tree Stables

Located in the heart of Palm Springs, Smoke Tree Stables offer picturesque horseback riding through the beautiful palm oases and year- round streams of the Indian Canyons. Custom-designed group packages are available and can include picnic lunches or a western cookout with entertainment.

 The Palm Springs Air Museum is a living history museum dedicated to educating the public about the role Air Power played in preserving American liberties and way of life. The Museum preserves, exhibits, and flies aircraft from World War Two, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror. A good portion of the aircraft in the collection are in flyable condition.

In addition to flyable and static aircraft, the Museum uses permanent and temporary exhibits, related artifacts, artwork, and library sources to perpetuate American History.
Many of our docents are veterans and are willing to share their experiences and sacrifices for the education of future generations.
